Work
Artist-entrepreneur, Yann Toma is President for life of Ouest-Lumière Company that he regenerates since 1991. This artistic energy company is a way for the artist to colonize, through fiction, new territories for art. Yann Toma is also artist-observer to the UN, and a university Phd professor at Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne, where he leads the research team Art & Flux (Art, Diplomacy, Innovation).
His works comments on collective memory, environmental engagement, and the production of mutual and positive energy created with light and radiant flux. By making a personal connection to the viewer, our collective memory, and the transformative power of masses, his art becomes a means of materializing both energy flows, and energy in general.

Project: Human Energy, from 5 to 12 December 2015, Eiffel Tower
French artist Yann Toma, in association with the ARTEL design studio, will transform the Eiffel Tower into an immense energy antenna, each night from December 6-12. Using virtual energy generated by the actions of hundreds of millions people worldwide, it will be a powerful artistic statement that we can unite to deal with the climate crisis. At the heart of the installation is the largest ever virtual energy generator, involving hundreds of millions of people worldwide, everyday. A counter will display the physical calorie count of 75 million daily users of RUNTASTIC. It will also measure the volume of tweets generated live during COP21.
